Today's Video Share: "Soulblind" by Pivotal Awakening

Pivotal Awakening is a Michigan-based Contemporary Christian band. They are comprised of lead singer Mindi Odom and bass guitarist/keyboardist Andy Graves. Friends for several years on their church worship team, the two headed to the recording studio last fall to record "one song, just for fun." They quickly learned God had an entirely different plan for them. A suggestion from their producer to write more songs together, the sudden gain of an international fan following, and Mindi being voted as a Finalist in the 2020 Detroit Music Awards changed their lives. That "one song" idea is now a full commitment to let God take them and their music wherever He wishes them to go. With their fifteenth song now written together, the two just can't wait to see what happens next!

Today's Video Share: "The Breakthrough" by Lisa Mitts

This song is about not giving up in pursuit of your dream when it feels dark and discouraging. It's always darkest before the dawn but that is the sign that the sun is about to rise on a new day. This is the story of my own journey as an indie artist of working hard and feeling discouraged at times. The breakthrough is in the journey facing the discouragement and the fear. It is there that we grow stronger and have hope to take a few more steps.

Lisa Mitts is an ASCAP registered recording artist, singer/songwriter, pianist, and performer. She received Female Songwriter of the Year at the 2019 ISSA Awards (International Singer Songwriter Association), and a multi-nominated finalist for the 2020 awards. She has recorded with well known R&B artist Allen Stone, Seattle producer/artist Brandon Bee, Canadian artist Jon Bryant as well as in Franklin, TN at the Castle Studios with renowned Nashville musicians . Today's Video Share: "House of the Rising Sun" (cover) by REFUGE

REFUGE is a young band from Kenya - fronted by a powerhouse 13-year old female singer. The band is made up of kids from 6 countries and four continents, ages 13 to 16. While their journey started halfway around the world, musically they are greatly influenced by ‘70s classic rock, funk and reggae, and the legacy of great, live rock music.

The band's name, REFUGE, represents what they are all about: an escape from the inauthentic music of our times; it also acknowledges their origins as “development kids” and their drive for social consciousness.

Formed in 2016, the band debuted publicly in 2018 and has quickly excelled to become the #1 rock band in Kenya, where they've received a lot of press. In August 2019, REFUGE played its first international gig at the Bautz Music Festival in Germany.

It's the only one with drums and band sound of the 4 and has a retro 70s soulful MOR vibe which has gone down well. It's been played on Swedish radio and has had numerous write-ups in blogs (Two Story Melody/Eartothegroundmusic). The video was great to make with some cool new tricks learned!

Today's Video Share: "Silver Moon" by Rock Farm Road Kneipp

Rock Farm Road Kneipp shares, “The video for 'Silvermoon' was recorded in Sydney NSW Australia at a local park rose garden. it was a beautiful day and I decided to lie down in the grass to get a better shot and interesting film angle. My husband thought it was a great idea and got up on the ladder that we brought in the car, even though I was in my best dress and hair and makeup that I did myself and the bugs were crawling over me. This song is a great romantic song about lost love and waiting for that love to return, there is a great bass solo at the end, which you don't always find in a pop song. We go by the band name 'Rock Farm Road' and record all our songs in our own home studio. We are an independent artist and released our debut album "Light My Way" in November 2019. We are considered Adult Alternative Contemporary Rock Pop Music as all instruments are played live into the recordings. We are working on a new album for release early next year and trust that you enjoy our artistic contribution to the world. Feel free to contact us at www.rockfarmroad.com

Today's Video Share: "It's Okay (Not to Be Okay)" by Abby K

Written just before brewing chaos changed life as we know it, “It’s Okay (Not to be Okay)” was born in Cambria, CA while Abby was touring the W. Coast promoting her latest album. Influenced by her musical heroes, Fran Healy of Travis and Michael Stipe of REM, the song reflects current authentic human feelings of anguish and fear surrounded by a giant ambient hug. It’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to have hard times and bad feelings. And it’s okay to talk about them.

Abby’s sound is as green, lush and dramatic as the Pacific Northwest. Her melodies are instantly hummable and imminently memorable, and her stories will hit you smack dab in the heart.

Today's Video Share: "Slow Down" by Kierra Gray

With the current Covid-19 pandemic sending the world into a crisis, singer-songwriter Kierra Gray shares the biggest lesson she has learned through it all, to slow down. Gray shared that during the quarantine she has had time to spend with her family, read a book, take a nap, and simply take time to smell the flowers without feeling guilty. She states, “This song is a reminder for me to not just exist, but to be present. I hope this message resonates with you as much as it has with me.” She has also made the song available for download from her website for free. She says, “Releasing this song isn’t about making a profit. It’s about giving a hopeful reminder, so you can download it from my website [and] give whatever you feel you should!”
One of Kierra’s most recent musical achievements was being named a 2018 National YoungArts Winner in the Voice/Singer-Songwriter discipline, where she was one of five singer-songwriters selected in the nation. Gray has also had the opportunity to provide two of her original songs for the 2020 Korean documentary and musical, Permission to Exist, scheduled for release later this year.

After feeling totally isolated from everyone, I decided to write a song of hope for when we come out on the other side of this Lockdown. It lifted my spirits making it and I hope it can do the same for you when we all get to hug again the loved ones, friends and strangers that we’ve missed through this time of Isolation.
