Originally written as a poem by Karen Weed, 'Assam Skies' is a true story depicting the life of and relationship between an English tea planter and Rampiyari, a young tribal girl from the tea gardens of Assam who was Karen’s great-grandmother. The poem was set to music by Char Seawell and then produced by Jim Ankan Deka using Assamese musicians and traditional instruments.
