Today's Video Share: "Lukewarm" by Kiana Corley

If you’re not yet familiar with the music of Kiana Corley, “Lukewarm” will provide you with the perfect introduction. The new track showcases the Pennsylvania singer-songwriter's unique, genre-bending approach. In the verses, Corley’s R&B-infused vocals float atop a reggae-like groove in a way that can only be described as effortless. Her delivery throughout combines the pop-folk sweetness of Colbie Caillat with the masterful syncopation of Jason Mraz. Between the prominent harmonies and call-and-response pieces, the laid-back production encapsulates the best elements of the early 2000s singer-songwriter sound. It allows the listener to really dig in to lyrics that tell the lesser-told story of a middling relationship that is neither a passionate love nor a heartbreaking tragedy. A different kind of love song, you’ll be sure to find “Lukewarm” anything but.

Today's Video Share: "Summertime" by Gal Musette

Directed by Autumn Palen (Eating Lisa), “Summertime” beautifully depicts vintage scenes of seemingly perfect summer pastimes. The single’s upbeat folk sound coincides with the lightheartedness of the music video, creating a false sense of romanticism and stabilizing the facade that is raised to temporarily forget present troubles when the weather becomes warmer. Gal reintroduces this hybrid folk genre with a modern twist, including vocal layering and a melody that becomes increasingly more complex throughout the song adding both a sense of joy and unfamiliarity to the already magical track.

“‘Summertime’ seems like a love song, but is actually about a friendship falling apart. It’s about that kind of friend you meet and immediately connect with on an intense level, then after a few months, you meet each other’s demons and your mutual perceptions of the friendship are shaken.” - Gal Musette

Today's Video Share: "Drop Another Pin" by Grace Pettis

Grace Pettis, whose debut single for MPress Records "Landon" was received with tremendous critical acclaim, has delivered another outstanding song. Dishing out hearty portions of hooks,"Drop Another Pin" is a fetching, alt-country-folk ode to living in the moment. Inspired by Pettis' own nomadic upbringing across the South, the song has gained new meaning in 2020. Grace explains: "I'm happiest when I'm able to center myself within my own little dot on the map, but I've learned that change is the only constant. Now is the time to get comfortable with change and stay centered in the present."

Featuring co-production and keyboard contributions from fellow Austin native Alejandro Rose-Garcia (Shakey Graves), the uptempo track was mixed by Grammy® winner Andy Zulla (Kelly Clarkson). But the accompanying video to "Drop Another Pin" required a heap of DIY from Grace as she made it at home during lockdown. Conceived and directed by Grace, husband Cris Lopez (New Wildebeest) filmed it in 4K on a cellphone. Grace then edited, color-corrected and added overlays of stock footage. The result is both fresh and retro, with the imagery of an old time projector bringing out a classic VCR- looking time stamp. For more information, visit gracepettis.com.

Today's Video Share: "Masterpiece" by Keely Burn

The official music video for Keely Burn's first single from the upcoming album Not My Masterpiece (out June 25th). This energetic piano rocker tells the story of a push-and-pull, all-take-and-no-give relationship, visualized in the lyrics as a game of tug of war. The video takes a more abstract approach, as Burn destroys the conventions of her modern existence by smashing glass against the wall and throwing paint around the room, and in doing so, ends up creating a new work of art out of her destruction.
