Today's Video Share: "Blue Christmas" by Brenda Burch

Originally made famous by Elvis Presley, "Blue Christmas," is a holiday classic. Both Brenda and her dad are Elvis fans, so it was a pleasure for Brenda to have her dad (who was a national harmonica champion) play harmonica on her version of the song. Brenda's father recently passed away, but his memory lives on through this video. She's grateful they were able to record this special project together. On January 7, 2022, Brenda is kicking the new year off with a new single called, Big Wide World. An uplifting anthem that passionately conveys living a life inspired by purpose.

Today's Video Share: "The Christmas Song" by Ed and Carol Nicodemi

The Christmas holidays last year were awful. The pandemic was at its peak and the streets of NYC looked like a ghost town. Families didn't get together, except perhaps outdoors to quickly exchange gifts and return to the safety of their own homes. This year...New York City is back! Most everyone is vaccinated, many two or three times! Though not perfect, the streets are once again aglow and filled with people, holiday shopping, eating out at restaurants, meeting up with friends and family. Going to the theatre, the opera, concerts, sporting events...it's all back. People are cooking together, decorating, and feeling a whole lot more human. So Ed and I felt that 'The Christmas Song' would be the best choice for a holiday song video this year, It describes how we 'waited through Spring and Fall; and now we're celebrating a magical return to the Christmas we knew. 'Chestnuts roasting on an open Fire..' Musical comfort food. We are Ed and Carol Nicodemi, a vocal and guitar folk/jazz duo, born and bred in NYC, so this is especially meaningful to us. Follow us on our Nicodemi Soundtrack YouTube Channel, which is growing in leaps and bounds. Check us out at our website, https://edandcarolnicodemi.com and join our mailing list. We wish you and your loved ones a very happy and healthy holiday season.

Today's Video Share: "Cornerstone" by Pocahontas Reese

After seeing so many in the church fail to uphold the moral standard expected of believers, I took a good look at my life. I wrote this song to encourage me to stay in the word and keep my focus on Jesus. He is the Chief Cornerstone; without Him I am nothing. When I lose my way, He will guide me.
Paul tells us to: Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. FEAR God. Honor the king. With Jesus as my Head, I can do all things...I am a mother of 4 grown sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, and 2 grandsons. I married my college sweetheart 38 years ago and I thank God for this man.

Today's Video Share: "Landon" by Grace Pettis

Grace Pettis is a singer/songwriter from Austin, TX. "Landon" is a song on her new album, Working Woman. "Landon", is a deeply personal, true story-song written as an unabashed apology from the artist to her gay best friend for not being there when he came out right after high school. The Indigo Girls were so behind the song that they agreed to sing on it. Growing-up in a small town in Alabama, Pettis grew up in a homogenous community steeped in a traditional Christian faith. Deconstructing bias with each masterfully poetic lyric, Pettis puts her own youthful, "traditional" values under the microscope, and the result is a transcendently beautiful testament to the power of change, forgiveness, and the inner strength that comes from standing firm in who you are.

Today's Video Share: "We Are All Refugees" by Ms Defiance

We Are All Refugees is a song I wrote about a child refugee. Whilst it is not precisely my story, it is nevertheless based on my own experiences as a former child refugee, drawing on the themes of loss and separation amongst others.
The video portrays famous refugees who most people may not know are refugees. Most people think of refugees as outsiders, whereas the reality is that there are many already living and contributing to the societies that they have fled to.
I talk about the song and video in this interview on BBC Radio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F32C0norrGE
And the story of how me and my family fled Iran is here:

Her first single, “Who Am I?” began to gain online and FM radio-play after it’s release, and since then she has been consistently putting out new music each year that has been receiving the same accolades and traction across many different countries around the world.

Exhale is a song that shows that while everything in life may be giving you a hard time, the easiest thing to do is breath. Sometimes I need a little reminder of that, and that's what the song displays.

Today's Video Share: "Cheeky" by Donna Hourigan and The Turnaround

This video features the single "Cheeky" from our self titled album of 2020. With her band "The Turnaround" Donna Hourigan teamed up with recent film graduates here in Brisbane Australia to create a fun, engaging video. The song lyrics were inspired by the very cheeky bass riff and the theme for the video came from 4 notes at the beginning of the guitar solo which have a secret agent feel to them. Shot over 3 days and 4 locations in Brisbane the video follows the antics of "Agent D" as she crosses and double crosses her spy handler in a race to save the band!
"Donna Hourigan & The Turnaround" are a Brisbane based band with a fresh, energized take on blues music, drawing on influences from funk, jazz & soul genres. One of the few bands to have both mother & son in the line up!
