Today's Video Share: "Pink Flamingo" by Beverley Kitty Green

Pink Flamingo was mostly filmed in Las Vegas over lockdown, with musician friends helping with filming. At the time I lived in a house previously owned by soul legend Gladys Knight, purchased by Broadway performer Ruby Lewis who also features in the video. It’s the story of the craziness and uncertainty of lockdown and how a house full of singers and musicians supported each other when there were little or no performance opportunities. I’d arrived in Vegas from the UK initially for a month but stayed on as all my music and teaching work was cancelled due to covid.

Today's Video Share: "Call the Police" by Liz Aday

This song was written 3 decades ago while I was living alone on the ground floor apartment. I ordered pizza and the delivery man kept my number, took note of my address, and proceeded to stalk me. I never recorded it until March of 2023. The song is still relevant as the pizza stalker is a foggy old memory, over the years, the song has become an anthem for various antagonists. It is about self-preservation.

While the song is served up with a whimsical & cheeky vibe.... the incident that birthed Call The Police terrified me. Situations & circumstances that followed through the years... a handful of abusers from overbearing gaslighters to “call security” restraining order moments... I continue to see ALL of them in mind while singing Call The Police.

She plwanted to write a song about how life can be unexpected and lead you on an adventure you may have never anticipated. That anything in life can happen and is possible when you least expect it. In this song a girl is drinking coffee at Starbucks and by chance sees this guy on a Harley. It is love at first sight. She gets on the back, wraps her arms around him, and sees where the road takes her. “Ya Got Two Wheels, I’ve got a tank top. Let’s go for a ride and see where the road stops”. In the last chorus it says “we know that we wont stop” because it was true love and that road goes on forever!
