Today's Video Share: "Lemonade" by Alisha Liston

Alisha Liston is a young singer/songwriter, full of energy and passion for life and people. She’s been singing for as long as she could remember; though found it hard to find music that she could relate to. She started writing to deal with the problems in her age group, and creates music that makes you feel hope, confidence or even a little reprieve from whatever is troubling you.

Lemonade is Alisha’s 4th original self-released song. Like most of her music, Lemonade was inspired by a real life situation. She came up with the idea of filming the video in a lemon grove, but couldn’t find a cinematographer available to film before the harvest. So, her Mom became the cinematographer, and Alisha edited the video.

Alisha has found that her music not only appeals to young people, but adults too. She’s learning how to better market herself, and has invested in your courses. Thank you so much for the opportunity. Much appreciated.

Today's Video Share: "Let It All Krumble" by Lyndol Descant

Avant Guard Director Eric Norcross created a vision on Lyndol Descant's song Let It All Krumble. Filmed on the Gowanus Canal, Brooklyn - the song and video is about persisting on the path of the artist.
"I wrote this song 10 years ago; my first year in Brooklyn. I was hustling hard, renting a room and barely making rent. I was surrounded by all the grossness of NYC that you have to experience on a daily basis; from pollution to rotting garbage to dilapidated living spaces that cost more than a whole house back home.
But despite what surrounded me, I felt more alive than ever. I was songwriting like crazy, performing weekly and teaching music to children from all walks of life. I was so just so thankful for the experience. I really did feel a whole new level of joy and peace on the inside. I'm sharing this song and video now to spread courage and faith as the darkness is being exposed like never before. " - Lyndol Descant

Today's Video Blog: "Forever" by Jennifer Slaughter

As a bassist, vocalist, actress and dancer, Jennifer Slaughter is no stranger to performing. She debuted as a music artist in 2020 with her single, “Forever”-a heartfelt love song expressing her life-changing relationship with Jesus.

Detroit, where she was born and raised, offered an obvious foundation to pursue music. In 2013, Jennifer picked up the bass guitar and has evolved her sound in earnest ever since. She also drew inspiration from her grandfather, Don Slaughter. He was a member of Motown’s Funk Brothers, the in-house musicians that helped shape the sound of the 1960s.

Jennifer looks forward to releasing her first EP, “Sapphire,” this fall. The title is partly inspired by the beauty of the stone as well as its blue color, representing the bluesy influence in her music. Her soulful sound also adds jazz, infused with what she describes as “glimmers of light”. These glimmers express the hopefulness found in her music. Jennifer’s goal is to leave the audience inspired and soothed by her songs.

Today's Video Share: "Smooth" by Eezabelle

Smooth is the newest single off of my upcoming EP, Darling, which will be released on 1.29.21. The song is from the point of view of a woman who has grown so used to the manipulative charm of men, that she’s learned all their moves and lines- then uses them against them. Giving them a taste of their own medicine. This is the official lyric video.

Today's Video Share: "More Love" by Tee Tee Solo

Tee Tee Solo’s music is a soulful blend of Calypso, Reggae, Latin, Afrobeat, Jazz & Pop with inspiring lyrics. She is an innovative, passionate, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Her cultural blend of genres stems from her all-embracing ethos. Her style is fresh, classic, and elegant with a tropical twist usually featuring the steel pan.

Performing with her family band, Steel Impressions Steelband, at an early age Tee Tee Solo found her voice through music. Ever since, she has developed her style, taking all of her musical experiences and mending them into a vibrant, powerful, light-filled musical force, featuring the melodic instrument the steel pan.

Tee Tee Solo's newest multi-version single and music video 'More Love’ is a conversation she had with God asking "Give me more love so I can love." This song came from a place of wanting to outgrow pain and sadness she felt and have more love for herself and her life journey. She believes, "This world needs healing and with each person having more love inside of them, they can give to others and help them heal too."

Her next song, ‘Keep Smiling’, will be out soon. Follow and subscribe to stay tuned.

Today's Video Share: "Happily Married Off to Me" by Joy Chapman

A comical look at the importance of women making themselves happy instead of waiting for their significant other to do it for them, being Happily Married off to themselves. Uplifting, fun, throw-back type 1960's inspired cross of doo-wop, pop/country, with a slight "flamenco" flair. If you need a smile or chuckle, this may do it for you. Joy Chapman writes your life experiences in song in an often tongue-in-cheek way, making your worst experiences seem a bit lighter. Joy has been there too! Add Joy to your Life and sing along!

Today's Video Share: “My Father’s Daughter” by Kristen Rae Bowden

Kristen Rae Bowden shares the new video for her song “My Father’s Daughter”.

“I lost my Dad when I was 18. He was far from a perfect person, but he was my hero all the same... a charismatic music man who could light and liven any room. Years later, I fell in love with a similarly charismatic man. (I was aware that the similarity was part of the attraction.) His artistic father had died more recently than mine, and part of our bond was this shared event in our pasts - the loss of our fathers.

Sometimes shared sadness or trauma can spark attraction, but it’s a shaky foundation upon which to build. Our romantic relationship was unstable and chaotic. I wrote this song in the middle of the night, during this confusing time in my life. The lyrics speak to the complexities of a doomed relationship where there truly is love, and the fact that “daddy issues” are definitely not limited to daughters.” ~Kristen

The video was directed and edited by Aaron Farrington, filmed in Earlysville, VA, by Aaron Farrington, Abel Okugawa, and Jay Taylor, and features Kristen Rae Bowden, Laura Dillon Rogers, Tom Garstang, Peter Markush, and Jay Taylor.

Today's Video Share: "Studio Apartment" by Elizabeth Moen

Elizabeth Moen has shared "Studio Apartment" from her Creature of Habit EP. The Chicago-based singer says, “I love the storytelling aspect of country way back when. So I said f**k it and wrote a ballad about someone moving to a city to ‘make it.’” Ironically, she wrote “Studio Apartment” while living in her aunt’s basement, a place she could only make-believe was her own. Throughout the song, Moen explores the tendency of humans (including herself) to romanticize their struggles in order to survive. Drawing poetic comparisons in common sufferings — like accepting inhumanely small living quarters in a big city to “make it” or self-deluding about a one night stand’s potential for love — Moen says “it’s about pretending it’s all more than what it really is.” Through an emotionally expanding melody, a bold key change, and open- hearted belting, she sums it up acutely: “Hold me like you mean it pretend this would work and we’ve both living our dreams.”

Today's Video Share: "Get Up" by Sarah Slaton

Get Up is the latest single from Colorado songwriter, Sarah Slaton. Written about the isolation 2020 can bring and reminding us to get back up again. The video features queer couple and bandmates, Sarah Slaton and Sarah Joelle, adventuring out of the house and into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. That natural beauty is contrasted with empty city streets to close the video reflecting the emptiness of the world we know right now.

Today's Video Share: "Angels in New York City" by Meia Santiago

I'm presenting my new music video for the song Angels In New York City. I co-wrote this song with the Grammy awarded songwriter Itaal Shur and Kelsey Warren aka Blak Emoji. I wrote the song some time ago after I moved on my own and searched for spiritual guidance. I addressed these questions to NYC because I had just arrived and in some way, I felt that the love I have for this city and the NYC's music scene could be the answers.

I'm Meïa Santiago , an awarded singer-songwiter and actress from Barcelona relocated to NYC in 2018. Since my arrival I have performed at great music venues of the city and as a a Sofar Sounds NYC's Artist, as well. I have one signed record and a new EP with a Spanish independent record Label, PICAP: "Lighthouse" (Meïa, Picap 2017), "Mülzien 25" (Meïa, Picap 2018), that can also be found on Spotify.
